Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) Report presented
Planner/Evaluator Ruben Franco presented the district's Academic Excellence Indicator (AEIS) System Report during a required public meeting held in the evening. Published annually by the Texas Education Agency, the AEIS Report contains information on student performance at the campus and district level. The report also contains campus performance objectives and student demographics as well as information on the district's finances, staffing, and program expenditures.

Franco said the district is dependent on state monies. The district's budget is divided into payroll, other, debt and capital. As far as staffing is concerned, turnover rates for the district is 11.1 percent compared to the state's 16.1 percent. The average years of experience for a teacher at the district level is 13.3 years, compared to the state's 11.5 years. The regular duty pay for the district is above state average.

Franco reviewed student information, including attendance and drop our rate. He also reviewed the SAT/ACT scores, AEP/JJAEP placements, TAKS percent passing accountability. Franco discussed the reading, science and social studies subsets. Franco said that the new accountability system is much tougher. He said that the district's goal is to reach recognized status in 2006.

•Monica Ibarra stated that one or two teachers are concerned over the reduction of the perfect attendance stipend. She stated that the amount is still listed as $500 on the district's website. Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limon said the amount should've been corrected 1 1/2 months ago. He assured them that it would be changed accordingly.
