Superintendent’s Report
Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón announced overnight trips as follows: San Benito High School Belles (Officers) performance at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Nov. 21-27 in New York, New York; Veterans Memorial Academy Naval Junior Officer Training Corps-25th Annual Seadragon JNROTC Drill Meet Competition and Orientation trip to Lackland Air Force Base-Southwest High School, San Antonio, Texas Dec. 4-5; and San Benito High School student trainers (end-of-year) trip Disney World-Orlando Florida, May 6-10.
Trustees also reviewed disbursements and disbursements by organizations.
School Construction Report
Construction consultant Lisandro Ramon provided an update on construction projects. Ramon reported that the cafeteria at Sullivan Elementary is 90% complete, and that the kitchen equipment has been delivered. The Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning projects are on going at Rangerville, Dr. C.M. Cash, Ed Downs and San Benito High School. Ramon also reported on the final completion of the San Benito High School’s science lab renovation project. At Landrum Elementary, plumbing and electrical work continues, in addition to the roof work. At Veterans Memorial Academy the earth work has been completed. Regarding the new elementary campus, the architect is working on preliminary drawings.
In other matters trustees approved...
Membership in the Region 8 Education Service Center (the Interlocal Purchasing System);
A request to replace the roof of the renovated classroom wing at Landrum Elementary;
Acceptance of the final completion of the high school science lab renovation project;
A request to grant a land deed to the Cameron County Drainage District No. 3;
An Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with Cameron County to construct a sidewalk along Padilla Street at Riverside Middle School;
Budget transfers;
2009-2010 Budget Amendments; and
Board Minutes.
