Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent’s Report

Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón announced an overnight trip request from San Benito High School Skills USA-Washington Leadership Training Institute-Washington, D.C. September 18-23, 2009.

Trustees also reviewed disbursements and disbursements by organization.


School Construction Report

Lisandro Ramon provided a brief construction report.  He stated that work is in progress at the following campuses: Sullivan Elementary, Rangerville Elementary, Dr. C.M. Cash Elementary, Rangerville Elementary, Ed Downs Elementary, Landrum Elementary and San Benito Veterans Memorial Academy. 

In other matters trustees approved...

  • Signature cards for SB CISD bank accounts;
  • Bids on the following items: office supplies, teaching/instructional supplies, library books;
  • A bid proposal on the HVAC Labor Work for chiller and controls;
  • A proposal on property and casualty insurance;
  • Granting the Building Committee Authority to accept substantial completion for the high school HVAC and Science Lab “C” Wing, Dr. C.M. Cash Elementary HVAC, Ed Downs Elementary HVAC, and Rangerville Elementary HVAC.
  • Budget transfers;
  • 2008-2009 budget amendments;
  • Board minutes; and
  • Equity Center Membership for 2009-2010.


    Executive Session
    Trustees approved the 2009-2010 compensation plan, including proposed salary increases, teacher salary schedule, the Texas Association of School Board Compensation Plan; the Supplemental Pay Schedule.

    The compensation plan is as follows:

  • $1,100 increase for teachers/librarians/counselors/nurses
  • 2% increase from the mid-point of the TASB Plan for non-teaching professionals;
  • 4% increase from the mid-point of the TASB Plan for manual trades;
  • 4% increase from the mid-point of the TASB Plan for clerical/technical

    Trustees also approved the math and science stipends to $2,000.

    Census 2010 Planned
    Trustees approved a resolution in support of the 2010 United States Census.  Two representatives conducted an informational presentation regarding the census.  The census will contain one of the shortest questionnaires in history.  Representatives stressed the importance of the census, which determines the amount of state and federal funding communities receive over the course of the decade.
